Philip Thomas

Director of Contemporary Worship

Email: Office: 972-423-3260
Philip was born in Chennai, India and grew up both in India and the U.S. After completing his bachelor’s in Music Education in 2011, he worked as a music teacher for almost ten years teaching theory, performance, and music appreciation. During that time he was involved with music ministries in the church through singing, playing for worship bands, and accompanying on the piano and organ.

As his passion for ministry grew, God opened the door to study church music at Baylor University, in Waco, TX, and he graduated with his Masters in Church Music in 2021. His vision is to establish a school of worship in India that will train future church ministers and musicians who can serve in their local churches. He is married to Mercy and has a son, Zachary, who was born in 2018.

Philip is very excited to be the Director of Contemporary Worship at First Christian Church, Plano. He hopes not only to lead the congregation in singing but also to equip people to be leaders and skilled musicians who develop a heart of worship and also play and sing with excellence.

His prayer for FCC Plano is that the congregation can be established as the primary singing choir of the church, so that the band can sing with the people, not to the people or on behalf of the people. Every single voice, no matter how beautiful or coarse, adds to the wonderful mosaic that is the Body of Christ. We need each other, and Philip needs you, so that together we can sing of the beauty of our Lord and point to Him as the one who is the reason for our existence.
