Disciples Women's Ministries

The next DWM meeting is scheduled for Mon, April 10 @ 10:00am in Fellowship Hall.
Purpose:
To provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment, education and creative ministries to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of the church of Jesus Christ; to offeWedr a support system for church women to meet the problems of the modern world, and to develop a deeper understanding of Christ’s love, to provide channels of service to the church, the community, and the world, and to develop all women in Christian living and Christian service. Membership:
The members of this organization include all women of the First Christian Church, Plano. Those who participate in the activities of the organization and accept the purpose of the fellowship shall be considered “participating” members. The group consists of loving and supportive members of all ages. We meet on the second Monday of each month at 10:00am in Fellowship Hall. Lunch follows the worship, study, and business meeting each month (nominal charge by reservation). Guest speakers occasionally replace the study time.

DWM Service Statement:
DWM is committed to service to others – both locally and internationally. Some of our projects include providing personal items to Hope’s Door (Collin County Women’s Shelter), providing school supplies for area children in need, supporting Fowler Home residents at birthdays and at Christmas, providing our homebound with visitations, support and fellowship, and participating in International DWM Service and Mission Projects.

TLC (Tender Love and Care Committee)
This ministry provides a meal following a death within our church family. When we are in need of a TLC meal, someone will call volunteers and request a dish to contribute to a meal. The team is made up of people who are willing to serve when needed. We have 2 persons as co-chair for each month with a list of four helpers. Least Coin Offering:
DWM women around the world are asked to give the least coin of their currency as an offering to be used for programs which promote their equality. This originated in 1970 in Zimbabwe, Africa.

Blessing Box Offering:
In gratitude for special blessings during the year, each member may save coins in a blessing box. This offering is dedicated at the DWM Regional Assembly in June.

Haggard Fund:
The W.O. and Rosa Haggard Memorial Fund provides income to be disbursed separately through DWM for the use of missionary work throughout the world.

History:
Founded in 1874 by Neville Pearre in order to organize women of the church for missionary work. The CWF was formed in 1949 as a simple, workable, design of worship, study and service usable in churches regardless of size. The purpose was “to develop all women in Christian living and Christian service.”
